The process to become an ordained minister, diaconal minister, deaconess or associate in ministry is called Candidacy. The candidacy process is coordinated by the synod of which your home congregation is a member. The ELCA’s website has extensive information, including an application form (which must be submitted online). I’m interested in becoming a rostered leader in the ELCA — what do I need to do?

To find a listing of all congregations (including contact info and web addresses) select Congregation List on the left-hand navigation bar. The list will appear with links to more detailed information (i.e. the names of all associated rostered leaders). If you are looking for contact information for a specific person, select Find a Person which will allow you to search the ELCA’s complete database of rostered leaders.
